(10:5) "The Sun is the source of light, and the moon a deflector"

(10:5) Tells us of the 20th century scientific fact known as "the Sun is the source of light, and the moon a deflector".

Shakir [Yunus 10:5] He it is Who made the sun a shining brightness and the moon a light, and ordained for it mansions that you might know the computation of years and the reckoning. Allah did not create it but with truth; He makes the signs manifest for a people who understand.

I wonder how this verse tell us about the above mentioned fact?! It is simply said: the sun a shining brightness and the moon a light!!

In English we had such term, which is "Sunshine", "Moonlight". That mean that the ancient Englishmen discover that the Sun is more shinning than the moon. It is so simple fact any child could notice. Here in the Quran verse the words:

Sun shine

Moon light.

The next part of the verse is interest:

and the moon a light, and ordained for it mansions that you might know the computation of years and the reckoning.

Did Allah create the moon for the purpose of knowing the computation of years and the reckoning?! I think that the moon had other functions and purposes than this primitive image. What about the people in our modern days who do not use the moon for these mentioned purposes?! Is that mean we do not need the moon?!
