(23:14) Tells us of the 20th century scientific fact known as "Bones come
first, then flesh". Many people used to think that flesh comes first, but
modern science proved exactly the opposite. This verse also tells us that
the Quran explained the system of embryology long ago.

Pickthall [al-Mu'minun 23:14] Then fashioned We the drop a clot,
then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump
bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another
creation
Yusufali [al-Mu'minun 23:14] Then We made the sperm into a clot
of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made
out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed
out of it another creature
Shakir [al-Mu'minun 23:14] Then We made the seed a clot, then We
made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones,
then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another
creation,
At Mohammed time anatomy was not so clear. The primitive imagination for
human development was like this: The man have bones under his flesh, though
that mean bones created before flesh. It is like wearing a cloth, if the
cloth (flesh) not on the body (bones) the cloth will not take it real
shape.
Since there was a lot of wars at that times, died people is a regular thing
to see. Therefore I could say that Arabs know what is inside the body (the
inner organs). There is a lot of marks in the Arabic history on how the pregnant
women treated, the conquers was cutting the belly of the present women.
Though, we could say that Arabs aware about the shape of the embryo in it
is different stages. For example, cutting a belly of a women in her
1st month will show an embryo looking like a clot of congealed
blood. Which is scientifically wrong, since there no stage like this. But
it look like a clot of congealed blood?!
The first surah came down on Mohammed says: Allah create man from a clot.
It is the tenth word came to Mohammed. So that mean Arabs know what is clot
mean. But unfortunately this
primitive imagination is wrong.

Shakir [al-`Alaq 96:1] Read in the name of your Lord Who created. [2]
He created man from a clot.
What is support my point on (belly cut knowledge) is the second word modhga
which mean lump of flesh as
the translators said. Also the word mean chewed meat, which is mean that
this lump of flesh look chewed.
Lets have a look where else the Quran mentioned the word alaq or alaqa
clot of
congealed blood.
We will sort the verses by there time of writing.

1- [96:2] He created man from a clot.
The first Surah.

2- [75:37] Was he not a small seed in the seminal elements, [38] Then
he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect.
Early Maccean.

3- [40:67] He it is Who created you from dust, then from a small lifegerm,
then from a clot, then He brings you forth as a child, then that you may
attain your aturity, then that you may be old-- and of you there are some
who are caused to die before-- and that you may reach an appointed term,
and that you may understand.
Late Maccean.

4- [22:5] O people! if you are in doubt about the raising, then surely
We created you from dust, then from a small seed, then from a clot, then
from a lump of flesh, complete in make and incomplete, that We may make clear
to you; and We cause what We please to stay in the wombs till an appointed
time, then We bring you forth as babies, then that you may attain your maturity;
and of you is he who is caused to die, and of you is he who is brought back
to the worst part of life, so that after having knowledge he does not know
anything; ...
Late Maccean and early Madanean.
The rare thing in 23:14 is that it is the only verse which mention an extra
development and it was the lately written. Which amazing us, did Allah need
all this time to clear his embryo system procedure?! Or he was not know?!

5- [23:14] Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot
a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the
bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation
Late Maccean.
I think any fair person, recognise that Quran have developed it is own image about the embryo system in a lot of time.
Why Quran talk only about the semen (which the sperm or seed came from) and
not about the ova?!
If we looked to point number 4 verse [22:5] we will find that it talk to
the disbeliver of the resurrection.

O people! if you are in doubt about the raising, then surely We created
you from dust,
If those disbeliver not aware about the physical development that Quran mention, then it is ridiculous to prove to them the resurrection in that way.
